Welcome to My World

Motherhood makes you discover yourself. I know it made me discover what kind of a mother I am.

We all go through many phases in life that feel like they’re big changes, and of course they are. The first time you live by yourself, the first trip out of the country, the first night with an intimate someone, the first day at a dream job, a wedding. These and many more experiences are what we define ourselves by.

But when the proverbial stork decides to visit your home and heart, every thing – every single thing – changes. All I can say is that no matter how prepared you are (and I’m sure we all feel prepared for what life has in store), having a new human life so utterly and wholly in your care changes the lens with which you see the world, and your own self.

And it is with this lens that I asked myself, what kind of a mother am I?

Over-cautious?

Careless?

Patient?

Lazy?

Crazy?

Short-tempered?

Over-achiever?

Emotional?

Logical?

Doer?

Manager?

A little bit of everything, depending on the time of day?!

Well, the answer is that every reaction, mood and decision made by this mamma has been underlined (and neon-pink-highlighted) with pragmatism!

I’m Nupur a.k.a. PracticalMum, an army brat who’s grown to live in and love the maximum city of Mumbai. I’ve worked the corridors of the financial markets for a decade, and now decided to take up the figurative pen with a lot more focus. This website is a log of my experiences in raising a bub in the hyper-connected, hyper-aware, hyper-informative times we live, while retaining some shred of sanity!

Stick around and read about our travels, our daily lives, and some of the fun (or not) we have as a family…

I’d love to hear about your parenting avatar – what kind of a mother (or father) are you? Or would you like to be?
